street performance
"12th NIPAF pre-event"; Shinjuku; Tokyo, Japan. 2005

It is summertime in Tokyo. I ride my bicycle into the street, and begin making little origami boats. A policeman appears to inform me that I am obstructing the street, and that I should get out of the way.

I empty a bag of ice onto a manhole cover, and set the origami boats upon the melting chunks. I hop on my bike and ride away into the crowd, leaving behind the little boats floating on a growing puddle of water.
